What We Do

Since 1913 we have helped thousands of young people, in the area of Castle Donington, enjoy new adventures; to experience the outdoors; interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Working alongside our youth members are our adult volunteers, with a huge variety of roles and opportunities available.

How can my child benefit from joining Scouts?

Parents tell us Scouting gives their children more confidence, responsibility and a broader set of friends. Scouting can help develop your child’s social skills and encourage self-sufficiency, and gives them access to activities and opportunities that may have been otherwise unavailable to them. A huge number of parents agreed that since their child joined Scouting family life was easier and they were ‘nicer children to live with’.

Our Sections

'The best thing we did was swim in the rain. I wasn't even sure we were allowed to, but it was brilliant! I mean we were wet anyway, so I guess it didn't matter too much about the weather.'

Scouting information
for 6 - 8 years

‘The best part of Scouting is definitely the camps. I love every activity we do apart from swimming. They told us the pool was 24 degrees centigrade. Minus 24 more like!’

Scouting information
for 8 - 10 ½ years

'Scouting has given me a fantastic opportunity to do lots of activities and things that people who are not in Scouts don’t get to do. It’s about having fun with good friends.’

Scouting information
for 10½ - 14 years

'To anyone who hasn’t tried Scouting before, I’d say come on up and have a go! I think that most people don’t really know that Scouting is about activities, friendship and meeting people from other countries.'

Scouting information
for 14 - 18 years

Scout Network is the fifth and final section of the Scouting movement. From the time of Baden-Powell, there have been arrangements for young people who wanted to continue after their time in the Scout Section.

Scouting information
for 18 - 25 years

Active Support

Scout Active Support allows people to give their time to Scouting on a flexible basis. People can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader.
